Feng Shui Bagua: Activating Your "Angel Corner"
By Deborah Redfern

Heavenly help is just around the corner. But not just any corner. According to the Interior Alignment school of feng shui, the bagua corner that activates heavenly help is called Helpful People and Travel. It is located in the right hand corner at the front of your house. In other words if you stand at your front door (facing inside - as you enter) and point to the right, imagining you can see straight through any walls that might be there, that is the Helpful People and Travel area of your home.

Activating the Helpful People and Travel corner of your home brings heavenly help to you and your family from many different sources. Depending on your spiritual belief this heavenly help may come from the Creator, your personal guardian angels, archangels, spiritual guides, and ancestors who watch over you. It can give you inner knowing, peace of mind, and the clarity to make decisions and go forward in your life.

Heavenly help may occur in ways you do not expect, such as meaningful dreams, or certain signs and symbols that keep appearing until you take notice. Sometimes a person shows up in your life at precisely the right time and place to give you the help you need, put you in touch with the right people, or encourage you to see a situation in a new way.

Sometimes we receive help directly from an angel. There are many books written about angel encounters. My favorite is called, A Book of Angels by Sophy Burnham. Angels are sensed and experienced more often than seen in the physical realm. They are associated with the sweet smell of flowers, a beam of white light, a sudden soft breeze -- even when all the windows are closed -- and through sound, such as bells, chimes and, occasionally trumpets. The most common way of knowing an angel is present, however, is feeling a wave of warmth and unconditional love sweep over you.

Actively Call Upon Angels
You can actively call upon angels and other heavenly helpers in your life. To do this, use one or more of these feng shui enhancements in the Helpful People and Travel area your home.
  • The color for this area is black, grey and white.
  • Written prayers, affirmations or blessings.
  • Candles and/or incense.
  • Images of angels.
  • Images and depictions of Buddha, Jesus, Mary and Saints.
  • Images of Goddesses.
  • Any image or object that has a spiritual or sacred meaning to you.
  • Photographs of mentors and people you admire who provide inspiration or spiritual guidance in your life.
Creating an Altar
Another way to call heavenly help in your home is to create an altar. An altar is collection of objects that have personal meaning; ones which help you focus your attention in a special way. Find a location in your home that is suitable for your altar. It might be a table top, window ledge, shelf, fireplace mantle, or on top of a bedroom bureau.

Once it is set up, take care of your altar. It is your love, attention and intention that gives your altar power, so the more you use it, the more powerful it will be for you. For example, if you have used flowers or plants on your altar, take especially good care of them. If you have included candles, regularly light them. Use the incense. Keep the altar area clean and dusted - the more you love and care for your altar, the more heavenly help you will attract. You can also use your altar in a more ceremonial way to focus your attention in the form of prayers, meditation, visualization or repeating mantras and affirmations. You can direct questions and seek a solution for any problems you may be having. You might write down your questions and leave them somewhere within your altar such as under a plant or vase of flowers. The answers will come, but you may need to allow time to process the insights and messages you have received.

Heavenly help often occurs in unexpected ways.
It can be very valuable to keep a journal of any insights you may have to help in this process. Many times in my own life I have found amazing 'coincidences' months down the road. For example, I tell a story in my book Odyssey of the Heart, Paths to Wholeness through Feng Shui, of repeatedly seeing a hawk during a vision quest I was doing. Several weeks later I was going through my journal and came across an entry about the hawk totem I had drawn from my animal oracle deck of cards. It had been a new totem for me, one that I didn't relate to until I had the hawk appear very dramatically during my vision quest. It was my personal sign from heaven telling me to pay attention: that the angels were working with me, guiding me and reassuring me that I had been heard.

You are also heard - every prayer and concern is heard and responded to, although you may not be consciously aware of it. By activating the Helpful People and Travel area in your home, you will become more and more aware of the spiritual realm and how it works with you to create peace and harmony in your life and give you heavenly help.
