Banana Smoothies for Health & Healing

Enjoy this yummy and healing smoothie with banana, yogurt and wheat germ, which is high in Zinc, Potassium and Vitamin C.

Zinc is an essential mineral that is found in almost every cell. It stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, which are substances that promote biochemical reactions in your body. Zinc plays a strong role in a healthy immune system, is needed for wound healing, and helps maintain your sense of taste and smell. It is also needed for DNA synthesis. Oysters contain the highest amounts of zinc. It is found in meats as well. However, it is found in beans, peas, dairy foods, whole grains and fortified cereals. To enjoy an immune boosting beverage, make the following smoothie for a late morning or afternoon snack. The kids will enjoy this cool immune boosting drink as much as you do!
Smoothies ~ Banana
1 organic banana
1/4 Cup organic vanilla yogurt (e.g., Stonyfield Farm Yogurt)
1 TBSP organic honey
2 TBSP wheat germ
1/2 Cup organic milk or soymilk

Combine smoothie ingredients in a blender. Enjoy!
