Did you know that your brain is 80% water, 15% fat, and 5% minerals (that you could buy for about $3?) Who - or what - is then reading this information? Who or what is making sense out of it? Your consciousness - your YOU-ness - is something scientists cannot locate anywhere in your body. They have no idea where the YOU that you experience as YOU resides, or how you have an experience of yourself and the outside world.

MY unknowable consciousness learned this from physician and author Deepak Chopra in early December at a meeting of the Alliance for the New Humanity in Puerto Rico. The Alliance [link to] is a new organization founded by Dr. Chopra and others to promote peace and good will throughout the world.

As I listened to government officials from many points on the globe, as well as ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things for others all over the world, I was reminded how important it is for each of us to feel our connection to one another. Everything we do reverberates through everything and everyone because we truly are one being living in an illusion of separateness.

Think of the analogy of the hologram. Let's say you have a hologram of a plant. You can take any portion of that hologram and create the entire image of the plant. Every piece, no matter how small, contains the whole. As Dr. Chopra said, "When an electron vibrates, the whole world shakes."

Another analogy used at the conference was the ocean. Each of us is a wave in the ocean that is the collective soul. Rather than comparing and judging the other waves, the ocean is about expressing itself, creating and experiencing freedom and joy, and serving others - helping each to express and experience freedom and joy.

Dr. Chopra also said that a teacher once told him he was standing in the center of infinity. At the same time, the teacher was also standing in the center of infinity. Your brain may tell you you're in a different space, but the reality is we are all standing in the center of infinity.

No matter how great the problems of the world become, and no matter how separated we appear to be from each other - Christian from Muslim from Jew from gay from straight from Republican from Democrat - we are all standing in the center of infinity together as one.

Whatever the specifics of your individual life purpose, the goal is always the same - to bring blessings to all of love, joy, abundance, acceptance, grace, and inner peace - which will, in turn, create the outer peace we so greatly need. Even if you have yet to determine exactly what your purpose in this center of infinity may be, you can fulfill your purpose in this moment by visualizing peace wherever it's needed and offering your love and grace to the world. As your electrons vibrate with your love, you'll make the entire world shake delightfully with it. Let's shake up the world!
