Saving the Planet Starts at Home - earth day lesson plans
"Where will the needed leadership come from, for a lifestyle
that preserves the earth's resources for future generations? It is unlikely that politicians or
the entertainment media will assume a strong leadership role - since they are powerfully affected
by oil, auto and other industries that benefit from the present consumerist lifestyle. It will
have to happen on a local level, a community level with people like you and me. We will
have to make different choices in how we spend our time and money - choices that could bring
us greater happiness, meaning, and deeper connections with others, while also bringing us
into harmony with the earth's ecosystems."
-- Judy Morgan, Environmentalist and author of "Healing the Environment" email course
This e-mail course conveys the problems and informs the learner of steps that can be taken
to start healing the environment -- starting in your own community. For example, what steps
can be taken to reduce global warming and hazardous waste; clean the air and waterways; green
the environment; create sustainable agriculture and renewable energy, and so on.
Being Informed and Raising Awareness is the First Step
Environmentalist Judy Morgan clearly explains the issues and problems ailing the planet.
She explains terms such as:
- Ecosystem
- Carrying capacity
- Global Warming
- Sustainable Agriculture
- Biodiversity
- Renewable Energy or more
Next she provides doable advice and life style shifts in short digestible earth day lesson plans.
If we all do our small part, it will make a BIG difference. In decades to come, our children
will likely not have a choice but to live more consciously and responsibly. Conflicts and
suffering over water and food shortages are already a horrible reality in certain parts of
the world. This course (with 13 earth day lesson plans) raises awareness, and then guides
the learner to be proactive -- starting at home.
Earth Day Lesson Plans for the Whole Year
This informative course is suitable for the classroom, religious/spiritual groups and for
the individual who cares about the planet and future generations. Each lesson contains one key
concept, which can be easily adapted into earth day lesson plans. Links to additional resources
are also provided in each lesson allowing course to be taken from a basic to advanced level --
depending on the learner's level and interest. Discuss the key message and try the weekly exercises,
which include practical activities such as looking under the kitchen/bathroom/classroom sink
cabinets for cleaning products currently being used, as well as, visualizations. If we can
envision it, it will be.
