Grief Course ~ Bereavement Information Death
August 2006
Dear Marty,
I have been the beneficiary of your excellent
grief course
since last December. The previous summer of 2005, I lost my father and my job.
This July 10
my faithful dog, Sam, died
at age 15. Thanks to your
grief course
I feel am grieving him and the previous losses in a healthy way. I attend daily mass at a wonderful Catholic university nearby, the University of Portland, which I have been doing most of the year and prior to the loss of my dog. This has been a source of tremendous comfort and strength as well.
I was recently hired for a part-time job, made some decisions to stay put and to remodel existing living space... Thanks to you, I was able to make these decisions independent of the advice of friends and with confidence and clarity and restraint, knowing I am in a vulnerable time of life. I have laid low deliberately and this has paid off.
I have not run from grief, I have abstained from large changes and the temptation to "escape" by moving or hooking up with someone in an unhealthy relationship. I ran a marathon for
Team In Training
(to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) in honor of my parents this past June. In July,
my dog died.
I have refrained from replacing him with a new puppy or rescue dog.
Thanks to your wisdom in your
grief course
I am at peace with my remodeled apartment, two cats, and a new job. My faith is strong and I have come to love a new Catholic campus community which is a quiet refuge from a harsh, fast-paced world.
I may or may not take your
pet loss course.
I believe I have gained so much wisdom from your "human"
grief course
it is enough to carry me through the loss of my treasured English Setter, Sam.
I will DEFINITELY recommend

grief.
Peace to you and God Bless,
