Issue 2 - March 2003 Mining the Gold that Lies Within
"Everyone who wills can hear the inner voice. It is within everyone."
- Mahatma Gandhi
Although mentors, leaders and guidance from others can be of great
value throughout life, finding your own path, being you're own leader and honoring your own
intuition is of equal or greater value in your quest for emotional, physical and spiritual healing.
I recall in my 20's, someone said to me, "you are your own best psychic." Over time,
I've come to trust and embrace my own innate wisdom over others. It is when I ignore or
dismiss my intuition - my inner guidance - that is when I get into difficulties.
So today, we remind you that you possess vast inner wisdom for peace, health and healing.
Listen to your inner voices for healing and peace.

"
He (Thoreau) appeared at a time when we had ... a choice as to the direction, we, the
American people, would take. Like Emerson and Whitman, he pointed out the right road -
the hard road... As a people we chose differently. And we are now reaping the fruits of
our choice... It is too late now to change, we think. But it is not. As individuals, it
is never too late to change. That is what these sturdy forerunners of ours were emphasizing
all their lives."
-Henry Miller
Thoreau: Mining the Philosophical Gold that Lies Within America
By Marianne Parady

|
Henry Miller's quote leads us to wonder where our nation would be today if we had embraced
the ideas of Henry David Thoreau and his contemporaries long ago. With anti-Americanism at
an all-time high, we need to consider just what this "very American" philosopher
can offer us today, as our society is threatened, both inside and out, by forces beyond
our control... [continue reading]

"There's no greater block to world peace or inner peace than fear. What we fear we tend
to develop an unreasoning hatred for, so we come to hate and fear. This not only injures us
psychologically and aggravates world tension, but through such negative concentration we
tend to attract the things we fear. If we fear nothing and radiate love, we can expect good
things to come. How much this world needs the message and example of love and of faith."

On Creating World Peace
By Christiane Northrup, MD

The fear and anxiety caused by the possibility of war are the biggest health challenges we
face right now. As a physician, I know full well that emotions such as fear and anger impede
the healing process and, if held long enough, actually lock us into a vicious cycle that
produces more pain, more fear, and more anxiety. This can wreak havoc on our minds, bodies,
and spirits. But this doesn't have to be the case... Continue reading on

The Doctor Within: Tapping into Health
By Constance Rodriguez, PhD

In this day and age of limited health care and insurance, wouldn't it be great if we could
simply consult our own inner physician? Actually, we can learn to do this. The way to do this
is through what is being called energy medicine or vibrational medicine.
|
It's premise is based on the notion that around every living and "non-living" thing
there exists an energy field. This was first discovered in Kirlian Photography as the
"phantom leaf effect." Through this method, an entire leaf could be photographed
after half the leaf was torn off. In other words the energy form around the leaf was
still visible enough to be photographed…

His Holiness in Iraq?
|
|
|
Many of us are anxious about the outcome of a war with Iraq and are praying for peace and a
miracle in order to avoid massive bloodshed of innocent people and soldiers. What if we asked
Pope John Paul II and other spiritual leaders in the world to convene in Iraq on a mission of prayer
and peace now? Surely President Bush could not ignore this plea for peace and attack.

Closing Thoughts
"We are not facing a political problem, or even a sociological one as many people believe.
What we are facing is a spiritual dilemma, and so it must be solved spiritually."
- James Twyman, author and Prayer Troubadour
"In order for the world to become peaceful, people must become more peaceful. Among
mature people war would not be a problem - it would be impossible. In their immaturity
people want, at the same time, peace and the things, which make war... Yes, our institutions
and our leaders reflect our immaturity but as we mature we will elect better leaders and set
up better institutions... We're coming closer and closer to the time when enough of us will
have found inner peace to affect our institutions for the better."
- Peace Pilgrim
