Discovering the Shaman Healer Within
Aho! Take a journey and an exploration into the worlds and the way of the Shaman. Come and sit down before the fire with the Shaman as you calm your mind and open your heart to the teachings of the Elders. As you walk the path of this course, you will re-member many skills, talents, places and people from your past that you have forgotten. Welcome to the reconnection to your purpose as healer. Let the Shaman Elder take the talking stick and listen to his words.
"...everything on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, and every person a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence."

The Shaman Way: Spirit Rocks and Crystals
By Shaman Elder Maggie Jean Wahls
Shamans know that everything is Spirit and everything is connected, and can be used by the Shaman for healing. Having knowledge of rocks and crystals increases the Shaman's ability to walk between worlds and bring healing to the world tribe. Today we explore the Shaman's connection to rocks and crystals.
There are two sides to this lesson. One is the material with rocks and crystals from this reality that you can use to help you in healing work and the other is the form that some spirits take as rocks and crystals that you may encounter when you are journeying. Let's talk about the second.
Spirits in the Inner Worlds may take the shape or form of anything and so look quite different than they may look here. But with practice and knowledge it is possible to not only recognize the kind of spirit there but even its nature or message. We can usually use three identifiers for rocks and crystals:
Shape and Texture of a Stone
When you meet a spirit in the shape of a rock or stone, look at its texture and shape.
Look at its Color
The color of rocks and stones is also common sense and helps to identify the rocks and stones in the Inner Worlds.
Finding and Hearing Spirit Rocks
- Red stones bring their strength and emotional energy, drive and ambition.
- Green stones bring harmony and love.
- Yellow stones are communicators and are carrying a message for you.
- Blue stones are imparting peace and bringing a sign of doing your duty willingly.
- White stones convey the message to be generous, to lift your thoughts above the common man and be compassionate with others.
- Black stones signify that you should be receiving and working on your inner self.
Finding your own rocks and crystals involves tuning into your spirit self with the help of your spirit guide while walking on a beach, forest path, place of power, or even looking at rocks for sale in a store. The stone you need at this time will attract you to it. When you get it home, wash it in clear water to remove any previous ties someone else may have to it. Some people freeze their crystals for several days to remove any energy attached to it and then re-energize the crystal with their own energies. I don't do this however because I don't want to rob the crystal of its own inherent energies. Washing the crystal will take away any surface energy from other people.
These rocks and stones are helpers we encounter as we journey through our daily lives and we should pay attention to every element in our daily journey. That is why it is important to write everything down in a journal so you can go back and find the myriad of messages you have encountered.
Share the healing messages you've received from stones or rocks with the rest of us so we may learn.
