Finding Money in Your Dreams
By Laura Grace (formerly Laura Grace)
Excerpt from her online dream course

"In our personal, inner search, working with dreams is not just a starting point but a main vehicle for self-discovery. Dreams help us to understand where we are and become who we are." ~ Jo Jean Boushahla & Virginia Reidel-Geubtner, The Dream Dictionary

Do you recall the last time you found money or jewelry on the ground in a parking lot or on a sidewalk? Was it a penny, nickel, quarter, a dollar or a 20 dollar bill? Did you pick it up and keep it, or walk away from it?

Finding (or losing) valuables in your night-time dreams is symbolic of discovering (or losing) something of value in you.

Why do people dream about discovering valuables?

New discoveries are exciting. And in your night-time dreams, anything might appear! Finding valuables implies that you're discovering something new within yourself, such as a new attitude, a new form of work, a new relationship, new prosperity, new creativity and so forth.

Years ago, I asked for guidance about doing the work I love. During this time, I had a dream in which I was in the driver's seat of my car and parked in a parking lot. Next to me in the passenger's seat sat a dark blue book with "Bhagavad Gita" scrolled in gold across the cover. When I opened the car door, I saw several brochures that I had created lying on the ground, and next to them were various silver and gold coins.

This dream was showing me that authoring (something I had not yet begun) combined with spirituality were a definite part of my life's work. As I followed my dream's cues and began writing, I had additional dreams where I found enormous diamond-shaped stones in my bedroom (representing intimacy) and a purse (indicating my identity since it's where I keep my ID).

The meaning behind these dreams...

These dreams affirmed that the work I was meant to experience would take me deeper into my true self while providing great abundance. Now, looking back over the past several years, I can see that all of this has occurred and more.

Why do people dream?
Key questions to keep in mind while working with your dreams are:

1) What am I currently dealing with, or being affected by, that my dreams may be trying to show me? Dreams tend to reflect your life and its current situation.

2) What do I need to know from my dreams so I can take the next step in my personal, professional and spiritual growth?

Feelings Are Key

Always pay attention to what you're feeling when you find or lose something. If you discover a valuable in your dream such as a gemstone or money and feel happy about it, you're being shown a way to create more prosperity. It also implies that you're willing to receive and accept the abundance that comes into your life (and more may be coming!).

However, if you feel guilty for finding a valuable and/or taking it, then this may reveal that you are not feeling deserving of the abundance the universe desires you to have. This type of dream may be showing you a need to work on your self-esteem and feelings of "self-worth." It may also reflect your perception about valuables (e.g., receiving "money" is not spiritual).

Also, dreams of this nature may imply that you feel you have to "sacrifice" and struggle to earn your living. If this is true for you, focus on the fact that you are here not to make a living but rather, to create for a lifetime.

Dreams about Losing Valuables

Losing anything in your nightly dreams indicates a loss or potential loss of something you value. Losing a valuable creates feelings of insecurity, powerlessness and dependence.

Losing one's wallet, purse and license or I.D. card in a dream are common. In your nightly dreams, losing your wallet or purse may indicate the "price you have to pay" for something that is occurring in your life.

Losing your license or I.D. card may imply you are changing and are letting go of a part of yourself that you once identified with.

Losing your car may imply a loss of self-esteem, sense of self, personal freedom and ability to move forward. Always notice your feelings during the dream and how you feel upon waking. Again, finding (or losing) valuables in your dreams is symbolic of discovering (or losing) something of value in you. Take time to use this soulful clue to understand what that is.
